Bahamas Weather
The sunny skies and warm weather of the Bahamas Islands make this archipelago (a chain of islands) a popular vacation destination. The sub-tropical and tropical climate of the Bahamas keep the crystal clear water warm throughout the year. The Gulf Stream and the Trade Winds help to maintain even temperatures, ranging from 80 to 90°F (27 to 32°C) in the summer to 70 to 80°F (21 to 27°C) in the winter. In New Providence Island (where Nassau is located), winter temperature rarely fall below 60°F (16°C) and usually reach about 75°F (24°C) during the afternoon. In the summer temperatures usually fall to 78°F (26°C) or less at night and seldom rise above 90°F (32°C) during the day. In the northern islands of the Bahamas, winter temperature are somewhat lower than in New Providence, and some 3°C higher in the southern islands in summer months, temperature tend to be similar all over The Bahamas.
Sea water temperature normally vary between 74°F (23°C) in January-February and 83°F (28°C) in July-August.
Rain showers may occur any time of the year but the rather rainy months are May to October. Hurricanes can be easily tracked from the time they form and thus visitors of the Bahamas should have no problem preparing and canceling travel plans if needed.
